Pilates
A brainy, athletic and fun approach to core strength
I currently co-own The Pilates Collective with five other wonderful trainers. I am a certified Pilates Trainer, qualified in mat and all
apparatus work. After many hours of lectures, training, and
over 800 student teaching hours, I received my diploma from
Ellie Herman Pilates Institute in April of 2006. I continued my studies of Rehabilitation Pilates under the supervision of master-trainer Lizz Roman. I believe
the Pilates method (or Contrology as it was once called by
Joseph Pilates, originator of the method) is the most safe
and effective way to strengthen deep abdominal muscles, balance
muscles with those that overwork with those that are weak
or go unused, and lengthen the spine.
Consisting of a variety of exercises that are easily modifiable
depending on clients' needs, Pilates will make you aware of
how you sit, stand and walk through your day. With a strengthened
core you can relieve back pain, neck pain and even tension
headaches. With apparatus work, knees, hips, and shoulders
can move more freely in proper alignment. I continued my studies with a pre-natal yoga teaching training program with Jane Austin in March 2008. I offer prenatal Pilates classes at The Pilates Collective.
I enjoy teaching Pilates to all ages and levels, from the
novice to the professional athlete. Please contact
me if you have any questions or if are interested in booking
a session. I currently teach Pilates sessions at Peak Performance Pilates/ The Pilates Collective. I co-own the space at 126 Post Street at Kearny in downtown San Francisco.

"I'm a former college athlete (but now in my 30s) and was somewhat skeptical about Pilates until my sister and parents got me into it. I also have a couple of herniated discs. I work in front of a computer all day, which does not do wonders for posture, back, strength etc unless you really take care of yourself.
Noa and I have been working together for almost two years now, and I've seen really dramatic improvements. Noa really listens, is responsive to feedback, and takes a very practical approach to Pilates -- something I appreciate.
I wish I had started working with Noa earlier. She's interesting, funny and finds a nice balance between being a great teacher and pushing you to become better. I'd recommend her to anyone.
I now am able to do a whole range of things I was not able to do "pain-free" prior to linking up with Noa - whether it by lifting my son out of his crib or running a competitive 10K."
